JUKI HZL-35Z Sewing Machine Reviews
50 of 50 people found the following review helpful extremely easy to use even for beginners, By This review is from: JUKI HZL-35Z Sewing Machine (Kitchen) I am a beginner - the last time I sewed was in home economics class more than 20 years ago - yet this machine is extremely easy to use. The machine itself has good illustrations embossed on it, which direction the thread goes, that kind of important stuff. No need to pull the manual out all the time. This machine is much, much easier than I remember machine sewing being. Nothing jams. The materials and build are not flimsy and cheap and plasticky the way the lower end Brothers and Singer machines are. I was scared to buy this model because of the dearth of online reviews. However, this purchase has been an example of when the brand speaks for itself, Juki being the sewing machine brand used by every tailor shop around me. They did not skimp on quality on this model, though its price point suggests it's intended for residential, non commercial use. 46 of 46 people found the following review helpful Good machine for everyday use, This review is from: JUKI HZL-35Z Sewing Machine (Kitchen) I heard good things about the Juki brand (they mostly make industrial machines) before purchasing, but was hesitant to buy a lower end model because of the shortage of online reviews. So far, it's been a great little machine. I've made dresses, car seat covers, and baby carriers and it has handled them all nicely. It does pause just a bit over my heaviest layers (which have been 8+ layers, mind you) but as long as I slow down a bit it has been a champ. I would go for a more expensive model if planning a lot of very heavy sewing. The manual is fantastic-I think it would be great for beginning sewers because it tells you which stitches to use for each purpose. Not fussy about tension, winds a great bobbin, and well-engineered and well-marked for easy use. 30 of 30 people found the following review helpful Good Machine for the Price, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: JUKI HZL-35Z Sewing Machine (Kitchen) When I researched my purchase of a new sewing machine I read all the reviews carefully. Overall I am satisfied with this machine but I am a bit surprised as well. This machine has an automatic bobbin winder. As with all machines I have used in the past I have to guide the thread with my finger to wind the bobbin evenly. I expected that with a new machine I would not have to do this. I am also surprised at how loud it is when I am using it. This is not a machine you could use if noise is a factor for other people. It took quite a while to adjust the tension settings so that I could use a plain stitch. I expect to have to make adjustments, but this took a lot of time to get it right. The cover it comes with is really poorly designed. Although there is an opening at the top to reach through for the handle on the machine you cannot pull the handle up through it. You have to have the handle in it's upright position before placing the cover over the machine. The cover does not lock in... Read more |
