This machine delivers quality sewing in a small package. I use it primarily for quilt piecing. It's a wonderful weight for carrying to classes. This is not a machine you can use for everything, but is a good second machine. Very nice for lightweight sewing. Amazon was easy to order from & satisfied all my requirements.

I love janome; I have 3 (2 sewing and 1 serger). This is a great machine, well built and very easy to use, especially for a beginner. It does not jam and runs great. I bought it to give to my daughter for Christmas when she turned 8, but decided to wait until next year. I bought mine used and I have pulled it out several times when I have needed an extra machine.

This Janome machine was a good investment. While the features aren't as plentiful as some other models, the machine works very well.
I have used it for zippers and oilcloth (even the two together) and it had no problem with either.
The only issue I have found is the bobbin tends to get caught up in itself (this could be user error but I am more convinced it's a design flaw). I wish the bobbin design was different (maybe a drop in rather than a shuttle) but other than that this machine has held up very well.
The storage compartment in the front is a nice addition. I hadn't sewn in years when I bought this and the instructions were very straightforward and the machine was simple enough for me to use that I have been able to produce several items. It's lightweight and small which makes it easy to store.
Pros: works well, is quiet, easy to use, light weight, compact, has extra storage built in, comes with cover and carrying handle... Read more

I am extremely pleased with this machine. I have sewn some fairly difficult and unusual items since I received the machine to the mundane and enjoyed every minute of it. The machine is incredibly easy to thread. I have used a straight stitch and a zig zag stitch and discovered I can do more than I would ever have even attempted 20 years ago. Apparently with age I have gained patience and the machine and I get along extraordinarily well. I would recommend this machine as a wedding, high school graduation or college gift. It is serving me very well.

I have an old Kenmore that I need to repair. I bought a new one, hoping it would work better. It did not. It is a real pain to take off the zipper foot to put in a zipper. You have to screw the part off, screw another part on, and screw the zipper foot back. That is too complicated. Filling the bobbin confusing and instructions are not clear throughout. I would never buy another one.

I have used several machines recently trying to find one to fit my needs. I'm not an experienced seamstress, but I've been plagued by less than adequate machines. Problems with tension, feed systems, bobbin threading, enough to make your sewing project frustrating.
From the box, this is an easy set up. Learning to thread the needle and wind the bobbin took less than 10 min. The Manual is very detailed and easy to follow. Take the extra time to read through the manual especially if you are new to sewing, it tells you which pressure foot to use with what fabric, it tells you about the stitches and which fabrics they are best for. This is easy enough to understand for a beginner.
First go at a straight stitch I had a perfectly straight line without touching the fabric. The decorative stitches are beautiful and with the lock stitch function easy to give a professional finish to.
I highly recommend this machine!

I bought mine from a local dealer on sale. I couldn't be happier with my new machine. Being skeptical about the computerized components I was hesitant, but now I wonder why I waited so long. It is quiet, smooth, user friendly, and I enjoy sewing on it. I have made many bags and other items that would have been a problem for my 1957 Singer slant. Nice, tight stitches in those thick seams! No more changing cams; just the touch of a button and I have the selected stitch. I am finding a lot more excuses/reasons for using it! :) The feet that are included make the purchase of this machine cost effective considering the separate cost of accessories. If you do need feet that aren't included, as I did, the Distinctive brand (sold on this site) work well and are less expensive than the Janome brand. Further, I have found that the SA156 bobbins (made for Brother) work well but the Singer 15's have jammed this particular model. I have owned this machine for 2 months without complaint... Read more

After a lot of research I recently decided to purchase the Janome DC2011. The first project I made with it was a purse. The Janome sewed through several layers of fabric and batting without missing a stitch, or without any tension adjustments. The ability to set the machine to stitch at a slow rate, plus the needle up/down feature was invaluable to me as I stiched around the many tight curves of the purse. I also like the low angle foot control. I am thoroughly impressed with the ease of sewing on this machine. As this is a recent purchase, if anything changes, I will provide an update.
